There are numerous reasons that would be coming up in your mind that to know people are so into starting up a blog these days. Here are some of them which might be the reason for you.
Make Good Money:
There is no doubt over the fact that now people have made blogs to be their way of earning money (I am one of those doing the same). You can just sit back at your home; grab a cup of coffee and begin writing to earn a great amount of money. But it all comes to passion if you have that passion for delivering great content for your audience you can earn a great deal.
One of the many reasons that I actually started with my blog was to showcase everything I though and learned all these years. And a Blog is the best way to grow up a community and share that motivation with others too.
Get Recognition for your business:
There are like millions of readers who love to just read anything and everything. I am one of those person who constantly checks out great stuff every now and then over the internet to read and learn new things and product. A blog can be a great platform to showcase your business and get more engagement for it.
These are not just it. There are still many options out there over the internet that you can use your blog for and use its content to reach the right audience. If you feel you have one of the above reasons, to begin with, a blog..Then let’s get going.
The 6 Easy Steps to Start a Blog
There are just 6 basic steps that can take you to become an individual to a blogger. Don’t worry I will just guide you at every single step.
1. Get Your Head Clear
2. Choose your blogging platform
3. Choose your hosting
4. Pick up the right domain name
5. Install WordPress
6. Design your blog
STEP 1: Get Your Head Clear
The first thing that you need to do before setting up a platform chooses the right topic for which you wish to Blog about. You need to get your head clear about that particular thing. I would surely recommend to think a great deal on your idea and where you wish to take it..It matters a lot.
If you have a business or any organization, then the best way to choose is to write about your product or the services you are providing to reach more audience.
There are few very important things to keep in mind before choosing your niche:
• The blog does require a lot of content to keep the readers interested. The niche should be taken in a way that might a lot to be discussed.
• You can start your blog on something that might be your passion. For example Fashion, Entertainment, Technology etc. You can always come up something interesting every time to write on.
• There are great possibilities that there are already certain established blogs working in the very same niche which you have chosen. But that is not the end of the road. You can always think of something new and engaging that might be better than the one already present on the internet.
STEP 2: Choose Your Blogging Platform
After you are done with choosing the right niche for your blog, the second step to go for is choosing the platform where you want to build the blog.
You must have heard of WordPress, it is by far the best blogging platform for everyone to begin with. It is simple, easy and most important it is absolutely free. I eventually without a second thought started my first blog with wordpress. And until now have been using it since then.. Its incredible!!
There are other alternatives as well that you can go for as well:
• Blogger: The next big thing after WordPress
•Tumblr: A Social Network as well as a Blogging platform. Very simple and flexible to use.
Why should you go for WordPress?
• It is FREE. All you need is a Host & a domain name to go for it.
• WordPress has about more than 5000 free and paid themes just to make your blog look more creative and of the best quality.
• Amazing Customer Support System to guide you at every step.
STEP 3: Choose your Hosting
Now, this is the perfect time for you to get started by choosing the right hosting after you are done with the platform to build up your blog.
There are two things to be kept in mind before choosing a host.
• Free Hosting: Every blogging platform provides a free alternative host when you begin with your blog. But to this, there are certain limitations.
1. Firstly you won’t be able to get your OWN DOMAIN NAME.
2. You won’t be able to fully monetize it as per your choice.
Disclosure: Because I am a paying customer for over 10 years, some of the links below are referral links, meaning, at no additional cost to you, I will earn a commission if you make a purchase.
• Self Hosting: Now we have an option of Self-hosting that would allow you to get your own domain name and you would have the full control over the blog. You can then use different extensions such as .com, .net, .in etc.
The hosting and the domain name would not cost a lot as you might have heard from other people. It is as low as about $5 to $10 per month. It doesn’t sound much right? Then you can definitely go for a self-hosting.
Now you are ready to begin with your own blog. Right? So just start right away and go to BLUE HOST. I think the best hosting platform that you might ever come across..I have been using it for over 5 years now and never felt better.
Once you have opened the page, Click on the Get Started Now button.
Select your plan
It is time that you got to choose a plan. I would surely be going for the plus or the premium plan. They have got some great additional and unlimited features which you might not like to let go. So choose accordingly. You would not miss a chance like this.
But there are times when your budget must be a bit low..But don’t worry there is a basic plan which is just great and you can go for it. And can upgrade it anytime you would want.
Now the very next step would be clicking on the SELECT option and begin the next steps further.
Step 4: Pick up the Right Domain Name
Domain name is your web address. For example, BloggingCache.com is my domain. The name is what people will look for over the internet and read over your content. It is very important to get the right name for it depending on what niche have you chosen.
The most preferred platform where you can easily get your preferred domain name is GoDaddy. It is a very easy platform to search for your domain name and get started with your setting the blog.
You got to first sign in to the website to save all your purchases for future reference..The option would be there on the screen reading enter the domain name. Now you can enter the domain name of your choice.
TIPS FOR CHOOSING A DOMAIN NAME
• The most important thing is to make sure it is easily remembered and looked for over the internet.
• You can always go for the .com extension (I would surely take that) as you too have noticed people prefer it more than other extensions and search for it more than usual like .net, .org , in etc.
• Should be easily spelled and remembered.
• I would say use your name if you aren’t sure of anything. Much easier to remember than those tricky names.
• Always remember creativity is the key. Always be creative with new names and ideas.
Enter your account info
After you are done with your process of putting your domain in your cart. All you need to do now is enter your account details for purchase and payment.
You have got your domain name of your choice and you are now ready with the things that you’required to set up the blog.
Select an account plan
Under Package Information select your Account Plan. Choose a package based on how far in advance you want to pay. Please note, Bluehost bills one, two or three years at a time, but as you can see, it works out to a very reasonable monthly amount. Not bad for your own blog or website, right?
Now you must be thinking about options saying for the subscription of a year or months plan for the domain name. I would say you should go for the year plan, lesser in cost and not very much required for a blog at once.
Should you choose extras add-ons?
I always skip the other add-ons except Domain Privacy Protection. (If you selected the Prime package, it’s included.) This protection keeps any personal information private. The only time I would skip domain privacy is if you are using a business address and don’t mind if it’s visible to anyone who looks up your domain. If you’re using your personal contact info (home address, phone, etc.) to register your domain, I highly recommend domain privacy. It will keep your data private and more secure in many cases.
Note: the Domain Privacy option only shows up if you registered a new domain above. It will not show up if you used a transfer domain since you would have chosen it when you registered your domain initially.
Enter your billing info
Fill in your billing information, confirm that you’ve read the fine print and then click Submit.
Skip the upgrades
Continue on to complete your purchase. You’ll be asked if you want to add any upgrades. I just skip them.
Check your email for login info
After completing your purchase, check your email. You’ll find a welcome email from Bluehost with your control panel (cpanel) login info. Keep this information for future reference.
Login to the Blue Host
Go the home screen of this page and push the button saying BLUE HOST, Now select the HOSTING LOGIN option if you haven’t done it already. You can either use your google+ account to login as it is a much easier task.
It is that simple..The first time I discovered this I was so overwhelmed that I chose this as it is so cheap and so easy to purchase all the things you need to set up your blog.
The blog name must be chose in a way that might not be too difficult to remember so that the readers can easily access it and remember on the go. Make sure you choose it wisely.
STEP 5: Install WordPress
Now you have to login to your c-panel where you will gain access to all the data shared and received. From there you need to select the Install WordPress icon to begin the process of installation of it over the host.
Begin with the Installation
Next there would appear a window, which would ask you to press the Continue Installation button to continue with the process. Now you will see the website will begin to start installing WordPress.
Choose the location for installation
You would now be getting a window asking you to choose the domain you wish to install wordpress on. Push the DOMAIN button and select the domain from the list.
There are now going to soon ask for plugins but if I were you I would deselect them. You can use hundreds of plugins but avoid unnecessary cluster.
Use WordPress Password
You can enter your site name or the Title. This can be different that the domains you use that would end up in .com extension.
There is an option to choose an Admin Username. Get a password. And you are done here.
STEP 6: Design Your Blog
You are finally done with starting up your blog. Now it’s the perfect time to add some extra flavors to your blog and make it look more interesting and creative.
To begin with you need to choose a theme for your blog. There are 1000’s of theme available on WordPress absolutely free of cost. But if you need a premium theme with much wider options, you can visit websites like Themeforest.net and buy a theme for around $20.
Your blog design must reflect what you are and what your niche or business is about.. If you’re going for a niche that would reflect your business then the appearance should be a professional one.
On the other hand it should also not be too difficult to navigate around otherwise the readers might get frustrated while going through your blog and you would get up getting no visitors even though you might have great content.
Make it easy, yet attractive for them.
